The Department of Culture of the City Council of Rincon de la Victoria today presented the bases of the XXVI Prize for Poetry Rincon de la Victoria in memoriam Salvador Rueda endowed with 3,000 euros prize, publication of the poetry book by the Editions Center of the Diputación de Málaga (Cedma), in addition to a sculpture by the artist Jaime Pimentel.
The councillor for Culture of Rincón de la Victoria, Antonio José Martín (PP), highlighted “the increase in the level of quality of the works, as well as the number of copies submitted during the last edition, with a total of 45 works from different countries in the world: Colombia, United Kingdom, Mexico and Spain, which shows the prestige of the prize”.
The mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado (PP), has stressed the important “commitment of this City Council to culture and literary quality with prizes as consolidated as this one, which represent an outstanding international promotion for our municipality”. In addition, Salado said that “culture is an investment that must continue to be promoted, like this award which has become a reference point in the cultural panorama”.
He also thanked the support and sponsorship of Añoreta Golf, Unicaja Foundation and Provincial Council of Malaga. Finally, the councillor has had words of remembrance for the figure of Antonio Garrido Moraga, who has been president of the prize in previous editions, “an endearing person who has left us an irreparable gap”.
For his part, the president of the Jury, Manuel Salinas, congratulated the City Council of Rincon de la Victoria for its commitment to culture, to promoting reflection and thought, in an increasingly superficial world”.
The original or unpublished works presented will consist of a collection of poems with a free theme and form with a minimum length of 500 verses and a maximum of 1,000. The poetry books must be typed in two spaces in DIN A4 and the total number of verses must be recorded at the end. The original and five copies will be sent, enclosing a sealed envelope with the author’s information (envelope), which must be included on the outside of the envelope with the prize slogan or title. Poets of all nationalities may enter for this prize. The winning poetry book will be published in a non-venal edition and will remain the property of the Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall.
The councillor has informed that the deadline for the admission of originals is 31 July 2018. The decision will be made public in September.
The winner of the 25th edition of the Salvador Rueda Memorial Poetry Prize was Manuel Reina, from Cádiz, with the title `Sólo tu nombre es mi Enemigo´.
This action is included in the government’s agreement with Citizens under the heading ` Cultura´ in particular to continue to hold competitions in literature, painting, music, competition and various activities.
